Before you begin your lessons, you should have already read the Course Requirements and installed Sketchbook (or you may use the Paint program that comes with Windows. Also, you should have installed Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and Microsoft Office. Please be familiar with my website, and pay very, very close attention to the Course Requirements which includes directions for creating your Class Folder.
If you have done this, and you are ready to begin your first lesson, let's get started:
Lesson 1: Learning and Identifying 2-dimensional shapes
Watch this interactive video and follow along for when I ask questions, or ask you to do something. Pay close attention to the video, but remember that you can always pause the video if I am going too fast, or rewind or fast forward the video to watch specific moments of the video. And be sure that you can raise or lower your computer speaker(s) volume if its not loud enough or if it's too loud.
Furthermore, you can watch the video either by pressing Play below, or you can click on the green button under it which will send you straight to YouTube. There you can increase the size of the video which might be better so you can see much clearer.
You can watch on YouTube and always come back to my website: http://hopeasateacher.weebly.com and go back to where you left off.

Once you've done the Practice and your Homework, you can always download the PowerPoint file if you want to review or have more practice. When you download it it, make sure you know where the lesson has been downloaded to. If you can't find it, run a Search for "Lesson 1" on your computer (not on the internet). This file will download as a PowerPoint file (file name will end in .ppt) and you can put it in your class folder. Then, open the file and review Lesson 1's PowerPoint slides.
Tips:
1) When you are in PowerPoint and in Slide Show mode (which fills your whole screen), and you want to exit the Slide Show,
hit esc at any time (the esc key is on your top, farthest left hand corner of your keyboard).
2) If you click on the Download link and it opens up in your internet browser, such as in Internet Explorer or Safari, go to the top left hand side of your internet page (your Taskbar), click on File, Save as, and save it to your class folder. If you installed Adobe Acrobat Reader DC as directed, once you click Save As, your computer should recognize that you are saving a PDF File, and will open with your Adobe Acrobat Reader DC program.
3) If you can't download and open the PowerPoint presentation, and you installed Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and Microsoft Office successfully, contact me ASAP and I will help you. See the link below as an example:

4) .pdf is an extension. An extension tells you what kind of file you are saving. For example, extensions with .pdf open up PDF documents. For this class, to open and use PDF documents, we will be doing it with your Adobe Acrobat Reader DC program. Other extensions such as .doc or .docx open with a word processor program, in this case, Microsoft Word. One last example of an extension, .ppt files will be opened with your Microsoft PowerPoint program. There are many, many extensions, and they ALWAYS come at the end of the file name (right after you click "Save As" and are naming your file). In the lessons for our Geometry Unit, we will be using all three of the extensions above: .pdf and .doc or docx. and .ppt. If we need to download a file with a non-familiar extension, I will always tell you what program(s) will open it.
